Welcome to richard riley dot net. Below are listed some recently acquired skills I needed to create my own CMS(barwebs) to facilitate event sharing
The backend of my barwebs system is predominantly in PHP.
The admin UI front end is predominantly JQuery
Apache Web Server
barwebs uses the Apache 2 web server
I use emacs for pretty much everything. The integration of all text handling tools with the power of its programming minor modes makes it second to none. And it's nerdy.
Since deserting Windows as a development platform years ago I havent so much as once looked back. Debian Linux is superb as both a client and web/rdbms server
Cascaded style sheets are used. barwebs uses per site css files as well as "in database" css elements which can be ordered, grouped etc
barwebs uses the addthis widgets
GIT Repository Management
All my development uses GIT and remote branch development. Safe, fast, secure. Must.
Bash is invaluable for automating common procedures. In barwebs I have bash scripts which iterate web directories and backup/restore databases both locally and remotely. In addition to syncronising the live code base with the development base either on a per project basis or "all".
Google Webmaster Tools
Google Webmaster Tools is a no-charge web service by Google for webmasters. It allows webmasters to check indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites.
Moved back to Firefox and Firebug having discovered the 3D view.
Originally used Chrome for all development. Moved back to FF because of (a) the 3d view and (b) its far superior mobile product.
Superb network analyser / packet sniffer
Can't code without
The jetbrains IDE
